~Light Rain

At the moment there is a very light rain coming down. The forecast for the day is scattered showers; however, I have plans to get out to my new secret lake to catch some fish. I have two friends that are planning to join me. If all goes well and the weather holds off for the evening, we are in for some good fishing. I'll be back with an update.

I'm not on the water yet, but I sure am thinking about it. So far the forecast for showers has been incorrect for this area... which is good for my fishing plans. If the weather continues to cooperate, the fishing outing is a go... and hopefully we will land some good fish!

Well, the weather worked in our favor and we were able to get some good fishing in. Everyone caught at least two fish... in fact the two buddies of mine that joined me caught two fish a piece. I caught six bass and a crappie. One of the bass was the biggest I have caught so far this year! I took some photos^(link) of it, as I do with all the fish I catch. I've got to get my wife out there to catch some bass!

~Picking Up

I have not been fishing nearly as much as I had hoped when the season opened. There was always something going on or I just didn't feel like going at the time. Well, today is the beginning of that changing. A friend of mine will be stopping by after work so we can take the boat^(link) out for little spin on Bush Lake^(link) in Bloomington. I'll only be able to use my electric motor because of the motor restriction, but hopefully we will be able to sneak up on some big bass! I'll be back with an update.

Well, I think I found the perfect lake to get my fishing fix. It's close to home and you catch fish. What better situation could you ask for? Now I can actually do some fishing in the evenings during the week. This will help in getting more fishing time in. When there's nothing to do, I can hook up the boat, drive about three miles and in a few minutes I'm fishing! I'm excited. Can you tell?

On with the update... Needless to say, last night was a success. I caught a 20" northern, six bass, two crappies and two sunfish... all on the same bait! Two of the bass were nice 2 pounders and the crappies where also good size. The most important part was it was fun. We were catching fish pretty steady the whole night. My fishing buddy only caught three bass or something like that, but he did land the biggest fish of the night. He caught a 19.5" large-mouth. It was a very nice fish.

I think I'll be heading back out on this lake very soon.

~Burn!

I was able to get out to Lake Minnetonka^(link) this past Tuesday. I caught four bass, a mess of sunfish and a wicked sun burn. The bass were not huge or anything like that, but they were all fun to catch! It was a mid-day outing, which usually isn't all that good for catching fish... I'd so much rather go early in the morning... and I don't get burned either.

~Excellent!

So it took me a little longer than I had hoped to get back here to update about my fishing outing, but I'm here now.

I was able to get out for an early morning fishing trip to Lake Minnetonka on Saturday morning... and since then I've decided that this is my favorite place to fish. There's always a different spot to try if the fish are not biting and there's always the chance for the big one.

Saturday I didn't have any trouble finding fish though. I caught my first fish, a northern pike, within the first few minutes. I followed that up with an 18" largemouth bass and the streak was on! At the end of the outing I totalled four bass and eight northern. It was a fantastic day of fishing... and the weather was beautiful. When the sun came up, it was shining bright and there wasn't much for wind either making it really nice and calm on the water.

Now, I have the itch to get out there again... I guess that happens when you do well.

~Early Morning

At the moment my plan is to head out for an early morning of fishing on Lake Minnetonka. I'll be targeting Largemouth Bass and Northern Pike. Let's see when tomorrow morning comes around if the plan comes to fruition or not and if I'm able to catch some fish! I'll be back.

~Buzzzzzzz

A whole lotta nothing was caught when my wife and I took to the waters of Bryant Lake last night. Well, I did boat a very small bass and a little perch, but that really doesn't count. I was hoping for more, but I had this feeling I should just stay home... I didn't listen to it because I really wanted to get back on the water again. It has just been too long since I've been able to do some fishing. I'm starting to think I need to just take a day off from work and get on the water when no one else is out there... or at least there are very few. I've had great luck doing that in the past, so I think I need to start making my plans. Perhaps this Friday?

It's sunny today and I hope the forecast is correct that it will be sunny all through the weekend. I'm planning on at least getting out for some fishing on Sunday evening if not Saturday as well. We'll just have to see what kind of time I end up having available.

A couple of friends joined my wife and I on a fishing outing to Christmas Lake yesterday morning. The weather worked for us most of the time, but there were a few sprinkles about too. It took a little while, but after just a few minutes we were catching some fish. My wife caught the first two fish, a sunfish then a largemouth bass. I then caught a northern pike and then the fishing was on!

By the end of our outing we brought home about 15 fish; the northern, three bass and a small mess of sunfish. On the trip home we listened to some Garth Brooks... man it's been a LONG time since I've listened him. It was great fun!

~What's This?!?!

Well, I was able to get my boat out for the first time this past weekend; Saturday to be exact. I had one fish up to the boat, but wasn't able to get a hold of it before it wiggled off... perhaps it's because my hands were FROZEN! LOL.

If it hadn't been for the stretch of very warm weather over a week ago we would probably still have ice on the lakes here in MN. The past few days the ice would be thickening instead of coming off with the frigid temps that we've had. So cold in fact, that when I brought my boat in thinking that rain clouds were moving in... I was welcomed to shore by falling frozen flakes instead.

... I think I'll wait until it warms up a bit before I go out again.

~Open Doors

With the weather continuing on it's warming trend I've been able to get my boat out from hiding and uncover the beast. I've removed the tarps and taken most of the things that I had stored in it for the winter out. The only thing left is to reinstall the batteries and the new charging system and I'll be ready to fly. I think I'll take some time tomorrow to get this done and perhaps even get out on the water for a little fishing. Then I can get back to updating this blog on a more regular basis.
